Free assure avoir les moyens de devenir opérateur dans le mobile
Iliad, le deuxième fournisseur français d'accès à Internet - derrière Orange et juste devant SFR - ne pâtit pas de la crise. Les résultats annuels 2008 du détenteur de l'offre Free sont bons : un chiffre d'affaires en hausse (+ 18,3 %, à 1,43 milliard d'euros, en excluant l'offre Alice, acquise à l'été 2008) tout comme le résultat net (+ 44 %, à 216,7 millions d'euros, toujours hors rachat d'Alice) avec 1,3 million de nouveaux abonnés ADSL (connexion via le réseau téléphonique). "Malgré la crise, 2009 sera à nouveau une année de forte croissance", assure Thomas Reynaud, directeur financier. Iliad, seul candidat déclaré à l'attribution d'une quatrième licence de téléphonie mobile, "a les moyens de ses ambitions", affirme M. Reynaud. La société espère ne débourser qu'1 milliard d'euros pour se doter d'un réseau 3G (permettant l'accès à Internet sur le téléphone). "Nous disposons déjà de 700 millions d'euros mobilisables dès aujourd'hui", explique M. Reynaud. Iliad assure pouvoir continuer à supporter en parallèle le coût de construction d'un réseau en fibre optique pour proposer le "très haut débit" aux clients ADSL. La société n'a pour l'instant déboursé que 150 millions d'euros depuis 2007 (pour un petit millier d'abonnés recrutés), mais maintient un objectif de 1 milliard d'euros investis "à l'horizon 2012".
